Can I get physiotherapy on the NHS for my child?
Physiotherapy for your child is available via the NHS – which is free at the point of contact. To access the physiotherapy service in the NHS you will usually require a referral from your GP. As we all know, this isn’t always the easiest thing in the world to arrange. Once you have obtained the referral and it has been sent to the physiotherapy department, you will be put on the waiting list, which can vary between just a few weeks and 12 weeks. Your child will receive an initial consultation, and some exercises. With the view to a follow up if you need one at a later date, which you will have to arrange.
If you would prefer to seek the advice and help of a private physiotherapist, then you can without a GP referral and no waiting list (a referral may be required if you are using medical insurance, you will need to contact your insurance provider). Our private physiotherapist will carry out a full face to face assessment and medical history to find out the reason for them seeking physiotherapy and what the aim of the treatment is. You will then be offered a wide range of treatment, including hands on, shockwave therapy, exercise prescription, etc. You can then, at that time, arrange for a follow up session with Jeannette to ensure the treatment is working the way it is needed, and to adjust as needed.
If you would like to seek private physiotherapy then please call on 02392 215 050 or book online.
